The Apartment

The apartment is on the first floor of a converted fort and has stunning views of the entrance to Plymouth Sound, the English Channel and Cawsand bay. The sea is literally only 50 yards from the balcony which has outdoor seats and a table.

The apartment has three bedrooms with double beds, and two bathrooms– one with a bath, both with showers . There is a large living room, incorporating the dining area and the kitchen, leading to the balcony.

It is fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer, washing machine, microwave, a Nespresso coffee machine and a new double oven. It also has a smart TV (with Netflix) and Wi-Fi.

There is no smoking in the apartment, and in public areas of the Fort. ( And I’m afraid we don’t take bookings where the party includes  children between 2 and 8). Also we will only accept certain dogs by request.

There are two parking spaces; one of these is in the underground car park where there is a lift to the apartment.

The apartment is in a 19th-century Fort converted to flats some 50 years ago. It was originally built to protect Plymouth Sound from “the enemy”.

The Local Area

The lovely fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand are 8 mins drive away (driving plus parking). Walking there, mostly along a beautiful coastal path, takes around 40 minutes.

There are four pubs there, a bar/coffee house, a deli and a couple of shops including a small SPAR. (A bigger supermarket-the Co-op- is on the main street in Milbrook some 5 miles away.) All four pubs serve food. Restaurant quality food is served in two of them.

The best pasties in Cornwall are produced about 5 miles away. A great breakfast can be had only a couple of miles from the Fort with a view over the bay.

It is a stunning area for walking with many spectacular views. The coastal path passes just above the Fort and in the east goes to Mount Edgcumbe, an estate with extensive gardens and an interesting house. The path carries on to Cremyll; while in the west beyond the fishing villages you can walk to Rame head and along the coast above the huge beaches of Tregantle and Whitsand Bay.

There are three ferries to Plymouth: a car ferry (the A374 linking the A38, Plymouth and Torpoint), a pedestrian ferry from Cremyll and another from Cawsand bay. (The latter is more a lovely boat trip than a ferry!)

Antony, a National Trust property with stunning gardens, is only a few miles away on the road to Torpoint.

The picturesque towns of Looe, Polperro and Fowey are further west but very much within reach
